Celebrating One Year of Beyond Born!

PreviousFrom the God's Own Country to the City of Dream!

Last updated 12 months ago

Reflecting on the past twelve months of Beyond Born(Caterpillarz Preschool Palarivattom Branch), I can honestly say they have been the most challenging yet rewarding months of my life. From finding the perfect property to managing the daily operations, every step has been a learning experience.

We opened our doors in June 2023 with just four students. Today, the Beyond Born family has grown to over 20 regular students. The beginning was tough—selecting the right property, making the initial investments, and getting everything ready for the school. I am forever grateful to Lincy Ma'am and Thushara Ma'am for their unwavering support. I also owe a huge thanks to my friends and family who helped with everything from cleaning and painting to arranging the property and setting up the school flex.

One of the biggest challenges came when we had to relocate the school within the first six months due to visibility issues. Moving everything to a new property so soon was incredibly daunting, and there were moments when I doubted the entire venture. I questioned whether starting my own school was the right decision. During these tough times, my partner's emotional support was invaluable.

The learning curve has been steep. I’ve gained so much knowledge about what to look for when establishing a preschool—topics I’ll delve into in another blog. For now, I want to express my gratitude for surviving my first year as a preschool owner.

My journey into early childhood education began a few years ago when I worked with Totto Learning. It was then that I realized my love for children and my desire to be a mother someday. Despite my 4-5 years of experience in STEM education, working with such young kids was a new and delightful challenge. Their curiosity is infectious, and while it requires a lot of patience to listen to their endless stories, it is incredibly rewarding.

Of course, there were moments when my patience was tested, and I just wanted to scream, "Shut up!" But I learned the importance of staying calm and behaving appropriately, no matter the circumstances. This is the essence of working with children.

One of the highlights of my day is talking to parents in the evening when they come to pick up their little ones. I appreciate their transparency and trust. Some children took three days to a month and a half to settle into our school environment, and I sincerely thank the parents for their patience and faith in us.

As I look forward to the next academic year, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. Here's to many more years of growth and learning with the wonderful children and supportive parents at Beyond Born!
