USF STEM Fellowship
Interested in educating children in STEM? Squeeze this opportunity!!
I’m Sreepriya Radhakrishnan, currently working as a STEM Fellow with Universe Simplified Foundation. They started this two-year fellowship program last year and I was lucky enough to get selected for this fellowship. The application for the next cohort is open right now. You can apply here.
I’ve also shared the details on all my social media handles. So many people texted me their queries about this fellowship. Being the USF STEM fellow, I thought it would be nice if I write about this fellowship and my fellowship experiences.
A little bit about Universe Simplified Foundation
Universe Simplified is a section 8 company based in Mumbai focused on the STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education of kids. They were active for the last six years.
On the USF website, they have mentioned the roles and responsibilities of a fellow in this fellowship period. That’s very short. I can tell you, you will learn more about STEM education, children learning the mindset, and about yourself a lot during this fellowship.
USF is DIFFERENT!
The approach of USF is very different from other educational organizations I’ve seen.
Inquiry-driven, collaborative learning and doing hands-on projects. One of the main things I liked about USF is apart from the curriculum USF has, they ask children about what they want to learn. Rather than teaching children a particular topic, USF provides mentorship to children. Guiding them in the right direction by asking the right questions to children.
When I took feedback from the class teacher of children we’re working with was children started asking a question during physics class without any hesitation or rather than just listening to the theory and taking notes children started to ask questions about the practical application of certain principles. That was a heart-touching moment for me. I felt like we went one step closer to the vision of our organization.
Why should you apply for this fellowship?
If you’re willing to spend two years building your interpersonal skills and knowledge in the STEM sector, you should definitely apply for this fellowship.
